HOME WINS ARE KEY - JAMIE

Jamie Stevenson salvaged a point with his last minute equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Elgin City but he wasn't a happy man.

The Shire midfielder says it's home wins which will hold the key to a successful season.

"If you look at last season we had the best home record in the league," he said. "So were are disappointed not to have taken all three points from a game like this.

"We must look to win all our home games, so we are disappointed not to have six points out of six at this stage. Although, it's a better start than we had last season it would have been better if we had a 100% record."

On a day when there were few Shire players to win pass marks for their performance, coach Jim McInally praised Stevenson's never-say-die attitude that brought the levelling goal.

"In all the time I  was at Morton with Jamie I  have never seen him react to a situation like that," said Jim. "There would always come a point where he would throw the towel in.

"But in the second half he kept on driving forward and I  thought the goal was a good reward for his determination."

Jamie, however, was willing to admit it was not the best of days for him, or for the club.

"There was no space to play and they were winning everything," he said. "We didn't start the game very well and we got a rollicking at half-time.

"There was a big difference in the second half, and the man getting sent-off gave us more room, but we should be doing better from the start of the game.

"They were just sitting in with two banks and it was really hard to break down. But we will have to do a lot better against better team. On thing we need to do is get more balls into the box, because although we had a lot of possession we didn't look like scoring."

Jamie has set himself a personal goal target for the season, although he won't say what it is. It was nice for him to get his first league strike of the season.

"It was a good one-two with Andy and I  just managed to squeeze it in past the keeper. But really we have to do a lot better than that."
