SIMON SAYS YES TO SHIRE
Striker Simon Lynch has signed a one year deal with East Stirlingshire FC.
The 26 year old completed the formalities after the 1-1 draw with Elgin City, a game which marked his debut for the club as a 64th minute substitute for Stephen McGuire.
Simon has plenty of experience of full-time football, having turned out for Celtic, Preston North End and Dundee among others.
He also had a couple of seasons with Queensland Roar in Australia's A-League before returning home last year to play with Airdrie United.
But a change of outlook in life has prompted a decision to move down the leagues.
"I had three or four First Division clubs interested but everything just seemed to fall through. I also had an offer in Ireland but that turned out not to be there.
"But I have made a decision now to go to university and do a degree for the next four years, so part-time football is the way ahead for me now and when I spoke to Jim this was the club that I wanted to sign for."
There had been plenty of newspaper speculation about his destination once Simon had made the decision to go part-time.
"Dumbarton made me an offer, East Fife were interested and Brechin as well.
"But I think it's about more than just what division you play in. It's also about finding the right circumstances to play and be happy and I certainly got that feeling about this club.
"I know a few of the guys here and that certainly helps as well."
